My dad flew this plane for several missions, but he knew it as Queen of Hearts. He says his crew picked this plane up from the repair depot because it's nose had been shot off. On September 28, 1944, he saw this plane go down while he was flying with a different crew as a replacement navigator. If you'd like to see his story, you can check out his website: [link] The mission was his 17th. That's the part of the story from his logbook. Click on the "Planes" link and you'll find the rest of the story. Enjoy!

Ryan, do you know how I can get a copy of this photo? I would prefer an electronic version. My dad flew in this plane and I'd like it for his website. Thanks! :)

Photo of a downed B-17 from the 379th BG. I got this photo from a fellow in Warsaw, Poland. It's a small photo so I had to resize it on my computer a few times to read the nose art. Looks to me like "Fightin' Pappy".Thanks to Mark Forlow who sent this photo. [ Edited ]
